7 people confirme dead

Seven people were killed in a rush-hour collision between two Metro trains in Washington on Monday, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty said Tuesday.

Firefighters climb atop the wreckage of two Metro subway trains that collided Monday in Washington.

There had been conflicting figures on the number of deaths.
Commuter traffic along the Red Line, where the crash happened, will be "severely" affected Tuesday, officials said.
By late Monday, emergency crews had switched to recovery operations after halting rescue efforts.
One of the dead was the operator of one of the trains, transit authority officials said. The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating.
The crash occurred just before 5 p.m. on an above-ground track in the District of Columbia near the border with Takoma Park, Maryland.
Both trains were on the same track, and one of them was stationary when the crash happened, said John Catoe, Metro general manager. A total of 76 people were treated for injuries at the scene, including two with life-threatening injuries, said Chief Dennis Rubin of the Fire and Emergency Medical Services Department for the District of Columbia. Two of the injured were emergency responders, Rubin said.
Four people were taken to Providence Hospital in washington, including two with back injuries, one with a hip injury and one complaining of dizziness from hitting her head, hospital officials said.
Washington Hospital Center said it had received seven patients from the crash with non-life-threatening injuries, ranging from serious to minor. One person needed surgery. Howard University Hospital reported three patients from the crash and Suburban Hospital in Maryland said it had two.
One car was "about 75 percent compressed," and recovery workers aren't sure if any more bodies are inside, D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty told CNN's "Larry King Live" on Monday night.
"We just haven't been able to cut through it to see if there's bodies in there," Fenty said.
"The scene is as horrific as you can imagine," Fenty said in a news conference. "One car was almost squeezed completely together." A certified nursing assistant who was on one of the trains told CNN affiliate WUSA she was trying to help those in severe condition after the crash, including a lady who appeared to be in her 20s.
"She is very, very torn in her legs -- the muscles and everything are torn, ripped through. She had metal pieces in her face," said the nursing assistant, who said her name was Jeanie.
Other witnesses described seeing more blood than they had seen before. cnn

Election in Iran

He's gone from colorless insider to political rock star — a graying, bearded veteran of the Islamic regime who now stands at the forefront of a youth-driven movement fighting for change.
Despite his newfound fame, Mir Hossein Mousavi still works out of his old office at the Iranian Art Academy and lives in the same unassuming brick home in a middle class district of Tehran as before, according to an aide.
Only now, he travels with armed guards provided by the very government he is challenging.
When he appears in public, such as at an opposition rally Thursday in Tehran, crowds surge around his car, chanting his name, according to witnesses in the Iranian capital.
It's unclear what has propelled this calm, deliberate architect and artist — who twice refused to seek the presidency — into a confrontation with the ruling establishment of which he was once a part.
Nor is it clear how Mousavi will respond if the opposition movement transforms from a campaign against alleged fraud in the June 12 election into a major challenge against the core values of the Islamic Republic — that senior clerics have the final say on major issues.
Even during the election campaign, Mousavi was less critical of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad than another challenger, former parliament speaker Mahdi Karroubi, who received only a fraction of the vote.
Associates say the real firebrand in the Mousavi family is his wife, Zahra Rahnavard, a prominent professor who campaigned by his side.
For years, he remained out of the political limelight, painting pictures — mostly with religious themes — and designing buildings, including two universities, a mosque, a museum and a shopping center.
Nevertheless, a 67-year-old figure nearly devoid of personal charisma has become the champion of a generation inspired by the hope of change, organizing protests with technologies such as mobile phones and Internet that didn't exist when their parents overthrew the U.S.-backed shah in 1979.
In his new role, Mousavi has displayed a common touch — something Ahmadinejad has also sought to portray in an effort to identify with millions of impoverished Iranians.
On Thursday, crowds cheered as Mousavi, dressed in a black coat and trousers, climbed on top of his SUV, addressing his followers through a loudspeaker rather than mounting a stage.
Although a number of his followers have been arrested, aides insist Mousavi himself has maintained his old routine, even as his challenge to the powerful clerical establishment is growing.
"Mousavi goes to his regular job as the head of Iran's Art Academy and lives with his family in the same place he lived before the election," said Qorban Behzadian Nejad, head of his campaign headquarters.
"At the same time he pursues his activities for nullification of the election."
Much of Mousavi's appeal among Iranians eager for change probably stems simply from the fact that he is not Ahmadinejad, a hard-liner who has failed to deliver on economic promises and who seems to relish provocative statements — from calling protesters "dust" to denying the Holocaust — that stir controversy at home and abroad. from yahoo

Reconstruction in Iraq

It has been 9 years since we embarked in the war on terror. Along, we made "useful'' alliances and broke " meaningless". in the process we landed in Iraq where the power of our arsenal was put to test. The young mighty experienced US military stood the ground and didn't wanna accept defeat as an option. They stood strong and they made it, through harsh interrogation or violating the Geneva convention they made it , some alive and some waiting yonder. They did their part, correctly or not, they did their part what is oour part? the answer is in the pic displayed. It is time to come together and start reconstruction

the longest african serving dictator dies in Spain

The old man is dead. And it is a shame for a man like him , in power for more than 40 years and was unable to build an hospital that could have treated him and cut short all speculation about his life. It is really pityful to said that he dedicated his life for his country, i will say he dedicated his life in looting the gabonese people. Now the country is left hanging on a balance and i won't be surprised if his Son ( the actual minister of defense) takes power without any election.... Africa africa... when will you wake up ?

There is no challenge impossible to overcome

our little mouse wanna take it down to the wire

OMAR BONGO Dead or Alive

It has been more than 40 years since bongo took power in the oil rich country of Gabon in the west coast of africa. Bongo quickly moved from democratic to a 1 poltical party as it was the norm in all african countries. at the same time building his empire in france and elsewehere in europe while promoting the contreversial France Afrique relation. Today his is living the country in the brink of turmoil due to no apparent successor. will the transition be smoth and peaceful or it will the repeation of Guinea Bissau, Guinea counacky and recently Equatorial Guinea alll of which are in the symetric line with Gabon. At the same time the minister of Defense Ali Ben Bongo ( son of Omar bongo) is beeing voiced as a potential successor? Is it a Empire or a Kingdom? I think, this is the african tragedy....

Diplomatic relation with Iran fiction or reality

The Obama administration has made reestablishment of US-Iran relation as one of his priority in reviving US stand in the world in general and fighting extremist Islamist in particular. But this process can be accomply without the participation of key countries namely Syria and Iran. Both countries are part of the axis of evil labelled by the Bush administration. But the question is : Is really diplomacy working or Obama is making the same mistake made by his predecessor? Looking at the situation right now and the visit of BiBi ( Israeli PM) it seems like the Obama administration has too much on it hand. On one side the Isrealo-palestinian conflict which is the source of tension in the middle East and on the otherside the Isrealo-Irano-America tension about a nuclear Iran. US head of diplomatic Ms Clinton has made it clear that an nuclear Iran can't come to existance. And the Israeli PM followed suite by saying that if US is soft on Iran, IDF will take necessary action to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapon and this means military strick as it did with Irak. The hypothesis is in case Isreal keep his word and bomb Iran, what will happen to the diplomatic relation so advertised by Mr Obama. And that in fact will derail the palestinian peace talk. And in the nord, the Hezbollah ( a military unit of the Iranian revolutionary abroad) will be temptated to attack Israel again. And what will be the stand of US in the matter. We don't have to wait and see in order to get the answer, Israel is an unfailling ally the US and US always stand by Israel. This means Diplomatic relation with Iran is a science fiction. But good luck to the president in doing what is best while knowing that it will definatly fail

Spelling bee yesterday came down to one word:Laodicean. the word was new to some but common sense to others.

Economic come back?

It is a subject of discussion these days. The economy may be making it come back. The numbers may tell us more about it. The sale existing houses is in the rise compared to past two months, fewer people are filing for unemployement benefit, Oil price is on the rise. These indications may be a positive sign. Talking about the housing market, it seems like people have some saving to spend on buying new house. So may be the housing market has hit the buttom of the pit that we feared and it is coming back to life; but the bid question of all time is : Is it a good time to buy? (we are not trying to answer this question at the moment), on the other hand millions of homeowners are in the red and unal to get financing or a take over of their morgages. We heard recently about buying bad assets, when will buying bad morgages become reality? The fund used to rescue wall streets through a backdoor wasllstreet rescue plan, the money ended up in wallstreeters' pockets in form of bonuses... Come on!!! more than a quarter of the rescue money...this is insanity. The unemployement claim has gone down. a question come to my mind: Are people tired of long line at the social security office or are people finding jobs? To know the answer to this questions, you just have to look at the number of murder associated with suicide. The Statistics are unbelievable. And Summer is around the corner, time for the rich oil mania to make some more bucks. Oil price is clumbing coz of a so called increase in demande. Seems like demande is concentratted on in one field, Defense. Most countries are increasing their military spending, and wat is the reason, a looming threat of Unkown origins. As the title says is the Economy really coming back is the problem of form what angle your wnat to tackle the issue. For and Oil mania, the economy is coming back but for waitress or janitors, the economy is miles away

But how how this trend will last? Answering to this question

Tatoo

Is this an art or a science? a practice or a preference?a culture or a devotion? I tried to look for the origin of tatoo and i find out that tatoo is embeded into graphic design. I don hav any tatoo on my body but some of the design of it is very fascinating. Which lead me to write couple of lines about it.It became a ID of all our NBA stars, a passport of NFL, and admission for MLB... but who started the culture in the professional sport? the other day i saw the oldest tatoo ever ever ever ... a life. She is a female... somewhere in Europe... i guess Spain born in 1937.. she is still alive and has tatoo all over the body. The design looks somewhat attractive but... we take it as it is. It is tatoo. In Asia and africa, tatoo were used as a trademark of different tribes. But today what do we use tatoo for? ancient world tatoo were different whether it is on a woman or a man. Today it is not so, male and female have the same type of tatoo. But what is the message behind the piercing and the tatoo? It is to show off our origins or to attract people toward us. Food for thought

international affair1

It has come to my mind to talk little bit about Africa. Africa this vas continent with more than fifty countries also called mother land by some group in our population has been going back to the stone age. Since the Berlin conference in the beginning of the 19th centry, Africa has seen the development of his workforce exterminated. Why I took the Berlin conference has a reference is because it is close to our generation and documentations are more authenticated than the triangle Trade. It is not that I deny slavery but I just don't wanna involve myself into this contreversal debate. Nevertheless We will get time to discuss about it in integrality. Back to Africa, The berlin conference brought about the division of Africa as we know it today, means countries. Before that Africa was divided in kingdoms, Empires ... The Berlin conference brought the Administrative division together with Colonisation. Meaning african kingdoms then now called countries were paying due to their colonial Europeen Master country. I just wanna point out that Asia and America ( North, central, Latin) never been involved in colonisation. Masters of Colonisation being France, Spain, Portugal , Great Britain, Italy, Germany... in short Europe on the other side of the Berlin Wall. You see Berlin comes back again. The City of Berlin is a very important in defining today's history. One will argue that the division was beneficial to Africa. I nor agree or disagree. The division brought about separation of tribe. There 's case cases where the frontier between countries will passe through cemetries means passing over someone tomb. In cases like this it will happen that the upper part of the dead body end up in one country while the lower part is in the part of land of the neighboring country. And this will be the beginning of a long war of land. After creating all this mess, now Europe has backed off Africa and now want USA to be involved in finding solutions to african problems.
